Your resume needs to clearly position which kind of BA you are, and prove it with project outcomes that signal your value to a business stakeholder. Common business analyst resume mistakes
- Vague BA flavour. "Business Analyst" can mean ten different things. Specify in your summary which kind you are.
- Process-only bullets. "Gathered requirements and wrote documentation" is invisible. Tie the work to a business outcome.
- No SQL or data tooling. Most modern BA roles expect at least basic SQL. List it if you can use it.
- Listing tools without context. JIRA, Confluence, Visio — name them in skills, but also show what you produced with them.
- Generic objective. Replace with a summary that includes BA flavour, biggest project, and target role.
