Common sales manager resume mistakes
- No quota numbers. Quota attainment is the single most important number on a sales resume. Include it for every year you can.
- Vague team scope. Recruiters need to know team size, segment, and ramp track record. "Managed a sales team" is invisible.
- No deal size context. ACV, ARR, sales cycle, and segment all matter — a $20k ACV closer at SMB and a $400k ACV closer at enterprise have very different skill sets.
- Soft skill clichés. "Results-oriented closer" is invisible. Let the numbers prove it.
- Ignoring methodologies. If the job description mentions MEDDPICC or Challenger, your resume should reflect which methodologies you actually use.
